Research - Overview
Dauwels Laboratory focuses on algorithms for Big Data Analytics. Such algorithms are derived from the theory of statistical inference, deep learning and graphical models allowing us to create rigorous tools with solid theoretical foundations. Two of our main application domains of big data analytics are (i) Transportation Analytics and (ii) Cogniomics.
Transportation Analytics uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) for research and development of self driving cars, predicting traffic in adverse weather conditions, smart fleet management, transportation related computer modeling and simulation, etc.
Cogniomics utilizes AI to overcome challenges in neuroscience like analyzing EEG patterns to understand early signs of dementia, alzheimer's disease, depression etc. It also exploits the power of human psychology combined with AI to curb challenges like fake news, insider threat, extremism, learning education atmosphere etc.
